What is Geo Drilling?

Geothermal drilling is the process of extracting heat from the Earth to generate renewable energy. A well is drilled into the ground and a loop system is inserted into the well. The loop system extracts heat from the ground and transfers it to a heat exchanger. The two main types of geothermal drilling are horizontal drilling and hot dry rock (HDR). Horizontal drilling is the most common type of geothermal drilling. This method involves drilling a well vertically down into the ground, and then turning it horizontally at a 90 degree angle.
